It’s Europe’s biggest weekend of the rugby calendar as both the finals of the Challenge Cup and the European Rugby Champions Cup (also known as the Heineken Cup) take place at the event dubbed Newcastle 2019.
On Friday night, in the all-French clash, Clermont Auvergne won the European Rugby Challenge Cup 2019 with a 36 -16 victory over La Rochelle.
The big one is on Saturday afternoon as Leinster face Saracens in the Heineken Cup Final in what has been dubbed a Ireland vs England clash held in the 52,000-seater stadium St James’ Park. Kick-off is at 5pm – ticket details.
Aside from the rugby, there are loads of events happening in Newcastle city centre including a fan village on the Quayside, a food market at Monument, a zip wire across the River Tyne, fan zones outside St James’ Park Metro at Strawberry Place and Gateshead will be getting in on the action too with activities in Baltic Square.
